Although he could be considered a veteran based on his extensive catalog and steady approach to recording, Spanner Banner brings a youthfulness and energy that belie his accomplishments. I’m A Winner wastes no time in making this apparent with the very first tracks—a pair of conscious anthems. Opening with Arif Cooper’s uber popular Guardian Angel Riddim, “Solid As A Rock”, embodies all the vocal and musical heights Spanner Banner is known for. The follow up track, “One Love”, which is a cut from Corleone’s Heavenly Riddim debuted at #4 and peaked at #2 on Tempo in 2008. “Angels Around Me” is a recent timeless hit song recorded for Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor’s No Doubt label and “Rolling Stone”, which should be handled carefully for the amount of soulful reggae grooves it emits will no doubt prove to be a sleeper hit. On “Everything”, Spanner takes us for carefree ride over a bouncy modern rocksteady beat created by the Riddim Twins, Sly and Robbie, in which Spanner Banner allows his vocal range is allowed to flex. “Jah Is Merciful” returns to his conscious one drop roots while “Stress Free” and the title track, “I’m A Winner”, feature a refreshing pop flavor, which lighten the results. Spanner banner has done it so good that i can't stop listening to his cool n soft voice with lovely lyrics.
