Joe Gibbs Music and Zojak World Wide are proud to bring the Boxing Riddim, a foundation reggae riddim, to reggae and music fans around the globe. Backed by Joe Gibb’s favorite musicians, Sly Dunbar (drums), Dean Frazer (saxophone), Lloyd Parks (bass), Bo Peep (guitar) and Willie Lindo (lead guitar), Cornel Campbell originally recorded “Boxing” for Rocky Gibbs, Joe Gibbs’ son, in 1981. This is the first time Campbell’s recording, as well as exceptional versions by Barry Brown, Kojak & Liza, Luciano and Junior Reid, and many others, will be available online. With 14 songs plus the riddim track, 15 Rounds Of Boxing, packs a powerful punch.

Backed by actual instrumentalists Cornell Campbell gets things started on “Boxing” with a smooth grace that belies the wicked vibes the song emits. Barry Brown’s “Dem A Fight”, Jimmy Riley’s “In The Springtime” and Johnny Clarke’s “Don’t Feel Like Talking” are more strong selections from three of Jamaica’s most renowned roots vocalists. Kojak & Liza bring in the deejay segment on “Bam Bam” while Baby Wayne keeps it going with his lyrical flow on “Bawl”. The timeless of the Boxing Riddim is evident with standout songs from Luciano (“Jah Never Fail I Yet”), Glen Washington (“Holding On To Love”), Junior Reid (“Slip You Fool”) and Yami Bolo (“Make Sure Your Heart Is Clean”). On this special release, Rocky Gibbs (son of Joe Gibbs) offes 13 tracks including the riddim version for music fans and reggaephiles to enjoy. Knock yourself out.
